The third meeting of the Advisory Board within the development of the national MEGA study—aimed at identifying optimal low-conflict areas for solar and wind energy development in Montenegro—was held in Podgorica, at the Ramada Hotel.
The meeting was opened by Nenad Radović, Head of the Foreign Investment Promotion Department at the Montenegro Investment Agency (MIA), who emphasized the importance of the project in fostering a predictable investment environment and further strengthening Montenegro’s green energy portfolio.
During the meeting, members of the Advisory Board were presented with conflict-sensitivity maps illustrating areas with varying levels of vulnerability to solar and wind infrastructure development. These maps represent a key milestone in identifying suitable low-conflict zones that will support the future development of renewable energy projects.
The Advisory Board brings together representatives of key institutions from the fields of energy, spatial planning, environmental protection, banking, and civil society. Its role is essential in guiding the study development process and supporting the future implementation of its recommendations.
The project is carried out with the support of The Nature Conservancy and implemented by Eko-team, in partnership with relevant state institutions. The Montenegro Investment Agency plays an important coordinating and promotional role in building a sustainable and investor-friendly renewable energy market.
