Montenegro Joins the Regional Initiative for the Development of Eco-Industrial Parks

Montenegro has officially joined the regional initiative for the development of Eco-Industrial Parks (EIP), marking an important step towards the modernization of industrial zones, strengthening sustainable industrial development, and further alignment with European Union standards in the fields of environmental protection and competitiveness.

The event was held on 5 March 2026 and was organized by the Investment Agency of Montenegro and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, in partnership with the European Union and the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).

The opening remarks were delivered by the Minister of Finance of Montenegro, Mr. Novica Vuković, the Ambassador of the European Union to Montenegro, H.E. Johann Sattler, and Mr. Javier Suarez from IFC.

In their addresses, the speakers highlighted the importance of this initiative for improving industrial zones in Montenegro through the implementation of sustainable development principles, more efficient use of resources, reduction of environmental impact, and the creation of more favorable conditions for attracting new private sector investments.

The regional initiative for the development of Eco-Industrial Parks in the Western Balkans aims to transform existing industrial zones into modern, sustainable, and competitive industrial centers, in line with European standards and international best practices.

As part of the event, a Cooperation Agreement within the framework of the Eco-Industrial Parks development initiative in Montenegro was also signed, formalizing the collaboration among relevant partners on the implementation of this important project.

The event was attended by representatives of relevant institutions, international organizations, as well as representatives of the business community and development partners, who will jointly contribute to the further development and implementation of the eco-industrial park concept in Montenegro.
